Our Board member Christopher Ralston received the 2009 Friend of Pro Bono Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association.

Mr. Ralston is a partner with Phelps Dunbar. As Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association, he oversaw and promoted fundraisers for SLLS, the Pro Bono Project and the Legal Aid Bureau. He has also served as the pro bono coordinator for his law firm.

Also honored was our former staff attorney, Luz Molina, who received the David Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award for her work in helping the poor. Currently Ms. Molina is the Jack Nelson Distinguished Professor of Law at Loyola Law School.
