Southeast Louisiana Legal Services News: > Minnesota Bar Donates $89,000 to Our Katrina Legal Aid Work

The Minnesota State Bar Foundation, Minnesota State Bar Association members and law firms donated over $420,000 to help rebuild Gulf Coast legal systems. Donations were made to the Louisiana, Mississippi and  Alabama legal services programs most affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The Minnesota Bar, law firms and foundations generously gave over $89,000 to Southeast Louisiana Legal Services for its Katrina legal aid work. More than 30 law firms and organizations made donations for Katrina legal aid.

Susan Holden, the Minnesota Bar Association President and other Minnesota bar leaders met with the staff of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services and the New Orleans Pro Bono Project at our New Orleans offices to learn more about the problems and challenges that we face in helping Katrina victims. Pictured below are the Minnesota bar leaders, SLLS attorneys and Pro Bono Project staff.

Southeast Louisiana Legal Services thanks the Minnesota State Bar Association, Bar Foundation  and all contributing Minnesota lawyers for their exceptional leadership role in helping legal aid for the poor survive in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
