Southeast Louisiana Legal Services News: > 2005 Louisiana Legal Services and Pro Bono Desk Manual Published

The Gillis Long Poverty Law Center has published the 2005 Louisiana Legal Services and Pro Bono Desk Manual. This 800 page Desk Manual covers 12 areas of Louisiana poverty law. It is an update of the acclaimed 2001 Desk Manual.

SLLS attorneys wrote the chapters on landlord-tenant, consumer, family, domestic violence, employment, Social Security, federally subsidized housing, welfare and tax law.

The chapter on Louisiana landlord-tenant law is of special interest to Katrina victims. Tenants have used this chapter to defend themselves in evictions.

Out of state attorneys and pro bono attorneys helping Katrina victims from Louisiana will find this Manual helpful.

SLLS attorneys who wrote chapters are Mark Moreau, Charles Delbaum, Kathy Roux, Rowena Jones, John Keeling, Peggy Fuller and Laura Tuggle.  Other authors include Mark Goldstein, Alicia Bendana, David Williams, Marie Williams and Sachida Raman.

This Desk Manual may be downloaded by chapter at:
