Southeast Louisiana Legal Services helped provide legal advice to 800 New Orleans Katrina and Rita evacuees in a special one week outreach project in Houston.
On October 5-7, SLLS attorneys, Mark Moreau, Geri Caliste, David Koen and Deania Jackson worked with Lone Star Legal Aid attorneys, Houston pro bono attorneys, the University of Houston Law School and Loyola Law School to help 800 Katrina evacuees with disaster related legal problems.
SLLS attorneys also presented lectures at a special Katrina evacuees' People's Law School (Univeristy of Houston Law School) on 6 disaster related law topics. The People's Law School is a regular community legal education event led by Prof. Richard Alderman of the University of Houston Law School.
Mark Moreau also appeared on an hour TV show with Prof. Richard Alderman, Prof. Bill Quigley and Bob Sohns to discuss common legal issues faced by Katrina and Rita evacuees.

SLLS attorneys, Mark Moreau and Laura Tuggle, with University of Houston Law Professor, Richard Alderman--the People's Lawyer, at the Katrina evacuee's People's Law School in Houston.
